Branch Forty
Xavier left in a hurry because he could not stand the judging eyes of his grandfather. He told the driver to be the one to bring Jessica back home as he went back to work.
Jessica had made it clear she did not want to be called a part of the family if they were going to go through with the divorce and there was no turning back for him as he had his mind set on the divorce.
Dawson who was uninterested before going home decided to go home after seeing the way Xavier reacted to Jessica today. Maybe if he were home he could monitor more things than putting Roselle in charge. She has promised she would get them together on a honeymoon but had failed the whole first month of their wedding.
“I am glad you decided to come home with me,” Jessica said.
If Dawson had insisted that he was not going to go back home with her she would have looked like a fool in the eyes of Xavier and she would have felt terrible. If she had somewhere else to go she would have gone to hide there. Since Xavier knew that Dawson knew she would ask for her room.
There was no reason for them to stay together when they were not getting along. Eleven months would pass by as she worked and spent time with Leslie.
She wheeled Dawson out of the wheelchair and took him to the car. While she was in the car and the driver was driving she sent a message to Leslie to let her know that she had been discharged and they could start hanging out as soon as possible. Instead of her to focus on what she would not be getting out of the marriage she has decided to focus on all the connections she could make.
She was going to ask Xavier about the progress concerning her business the earlier she opened it up the better for her. As they arrived at the mansion all the staff came out to greet Dawson.
“I never thought I would see this house again,” Dawson said with a laugh at the end of his sentence.
He had gone to the hospital because he did not want to be a nuisance and it was only Jessica who had assured him that everyone at home wanted him and that he would be well taken care of.
“Don’t say that” Jessica said wheeling him inside.
“I am just saying. Thank you for bringing me back home” Dawson said his appreciation showing through.
He wanted his family but did not want to become a burden to them.
“Anytime you need something. I’m here for you” Jessica said.
“So what do you want for dinner?” Jessica added a question.
Since it was his first night at home since she got there she was going to give him a treat of whatever he wanted and Xavier could have the leftover of what they had.
She was going to tell him to sort his meals from the next day. After all, they weren’t Family. This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
Dawson had no special request so Jessica made a pan pizza and they both had it over light conversation. Dawson was exhausted from the move and change of environment so he went to bed early.
Jessica waited up for Xavier because she had a lot to discuss with him. She was going to iron out all the details of her remaining time in the house. Her business, sleeping arrangement, and his meals.
She had been glad to share her cooking with him but he had been too rigid to accept her. He had proven that he was just as closed off as chose to be and she was not putting herself up for heartbreak.
If she continued to see him in good light she might end up falling for him and she would be hurting once again by the time she had to leave the Delgado house. She was only Delgado by paper and name. She has no relationship with them.
Xavier came in as Jessica was cleaning up the table. He had been coming in early these days to eat dinner with Jessica. Seeing her clean the table sent a shock down his spine.
Had she eaten without him? It was a first. Was he perhaps still angry at the interaction in the morning? Was she being petty because of his actions and words or was she just cleaning the table?
“Hello,” he said carefully.
He was unaware of the type of mood she was in and it was better safe than sorry. Jessica had only blown up in anger once and that was it. She forgot about it immediately after and continued living her life.
“Welcome,” Jessica said looking up and napkin in her hand.
“Do I have dinner?” he asked.
He had been famished from eating nothing but bread the previous day and nothing at all day.
“Yes of course,” Jessica said.
She had prepared two pan pizzas. She and Dawson were only able to finish one and Xavier would have the whole pan all to himself. If he was able to finish it she would refrigerate it and have it as lunch the next day.
“Sit down let me get it,” Jessica said entering the kitchen.
She set the table and Xavier sat down to eat. He had to truthful admit that Jessica was a fantastic cook. He was glad to be having her meals now.
“I have something I would like to speak about,” Jessica said when Xavier stopped eating.
She had finished doing the dishes and then sat by the table to wait for him. She scrolled through her phone while waiting for him and now that she noticed he was done she could talk.
“What is that?” Xavier asked.
He felt more at ease since it seemed as if she was not holding a grudge against him. He had spoken very rudely and had left them at the hospital without apologizing. She was at fault. If she did not jump to do things no one asked her they would still be on good terms.
