A Deal With The Millionaire

Chapter 39

” I love you Layla ” He said again while Layla stared on at him in shock. She was never expecting this, not even in her lifetime. She had never believed all those words Mirah spoke about Shane having some sorts of feelings for her.

She had thought it was just a way of making her feel better for also liking Shane. But right now,, he’s confessing his feelings to her. He said he loves her?

Did she really hear him right or is it an hallucination? Shane loves her?

” Shane loves me? ” She thought, still staring at his face in shock. She felt herself rooted to the spot as she couldn’t move, not even a finger.

” Layla ” Shane called almost in a whisper. Her sudden silence was making him so nervous as he wondered what was going on in her head at that moment.

” Huh? ” Layla asked unconsciously, only moving her brows but really she wasn’t in a conscious state at all.

” Do you feel the same way? ” He asked slowly and she shook her head abruptly. ” No, I don’t ” She said, still shooking her head abruptly. Shane’s face went pale at her answer. He just got rejected. ” You don’t.. you don’t feel the same way I feel? ” He asked slowly and she snapped out of her thoughts.Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.

” Huh? ” She asked, unsure of what was going on at the moment. ” Were you even listening? ” Shane asked sadly. ” Yes I was. I’m really sorry, but I can’t… I don’t feel the same way ” She muttered, biting her lower lips slowly. ” You really don’t feel the same way? ” Shane asked and she nodded again. ” I’m sorry ” She added.

Shane tried so hard to hide the hurt emotion on his face at that moment. He inhaled deeply, with his eyes shut.

He flashed them open again and his eyes piercing deep into Layla’s eyeballs. She gulped down into nothing and shifted a bit on her spot. ” You really don’t feel the same way I feel? ” Shane asked again, a hint of sadness in his tone.

” I’m sorry. I really don’t ” Layla lied. She sure feels the same way but due to the factors at hand now, she really can’t risk it. He’s married, and she’s well aware that it’s wrong.

She had always cared about her dignity. She wouldn’t want that to get ruined ’cause of some weird feelings. She has to resist it no matter what. Shane let out a sigh he’s been keeping in. ” Um… I… Gosh ” He was suddenly short of words. His hands which were in his pockets initially were now on his hair as he ruffled his hair frustratedly.

” I should leave then ” He said not knowing what to say anymore. Without waiting for Layla’s reply, he walked out of the apartment almost in a hurry.

He walked abruptly to his car and let out a heavy sigh. He wasn’t really expecting her to give in at once but he’s still saddening to know that she doesn’t feel the way. But if Alec is really right about guessing that Layla feels the same way he feels. He would keep on trying. But for now, he should let her be.

He sighed for the umpteenth time before reviving his car engine and he drove off.

Layla let out a sigh from the window side where she had been waiting for Shane’s car to leave and it finally did.

She sighed sadly and confusedly as she walked deeper into the sitting room and landed on one of the couches.

” He doesn’t know what he’s saying right?, We’ve only knew each other for some months. He can’t suddenly develop feelings for me. He’s probably confused or misinterpreted what he fees for me. But it’s not love right? ” She thought.

” I can’t possibly accept his request. He’s married, I don’t wanna be an obstacle to his love life. That would make me lose my dignity, running someone’s marriage ” Layla thought again with a sigh. She didn’t even notice Mirah’s presence beside her.

Until she felt a presence on the couch next to her, she flinched, snapping out of her thoughts. Her gaze locked with Mirah who had a confused look on with a raised brow.

” Why were you so lost in thoughts? What were you thinking about? ” Mirah was the first to speak out.

Layla turned to her and then sighed softly. ” Shane… He was here ” She started, deciding to tell her friend the truth. ” And?.. ” Mirah urged her to go on as her brows rose more.

” He told me he loves me ” Layla blurted out. She looked at Mirah whose brows were raised in shock. She was more than suprised at that moment. It came as a shock to her and she found no right words to say.

” Shane… He.. he came here? ” Mirah asked unable to believe what she had just heard,, Layla nodded. ” It’s the truth ” She added. Mirah moved closer to Layla abruptly. ” So what was your reply?, Did you tell him you feel the same way? ” Mirah asked and Layla let out a sigh. ” No… I’m confused right now ” Layla replied instead, standing on her feet.

” Why are you confused? ” Mirah asked, looking up at Layla’s face. She was still sitting down.

” How could he say that?, He has a wife and he’s well aware of that. It would be totally wrong for anything to occur between us. It was contract and now that the contract’s ended, we’re supposed to move on ” Layla muttered and Mirah sighed before standing up to her height.

” Come on, that’s not an obstruction. Shane loves you and he has told you the truth. You should accept it and live with the fact that you two are meant for each other ” Mirah advised and Layla groaned.

” Come on Mirah… You should know that’s not right ” Layla said, freeing herself slowly from Mirah’s grip, she had held her wrist when she stood then.

” How is it not right? ” Mira asked with a scoff. ” ‘Cause he’s married. He has a wife, a lady just like me. How would you feel when your husband is dating another lady in your absence? ” Layla directed a question to Mirah and she scoffed.

” He wouldn’t. And meanwhile, Shane has no fault in this. It’s Brielle’s fault, it’s her fault for indirectly telling her husband she doesn’t really care about him ” Mirah said to Layla, almost saying it in a snap.

” Mirah… ” ” He loves you and that’s all that matters. You love him too, you should embrace the fact. Things might go really right and okay for you two ” Mirah urged Layla. ” But what if it doesn’t? ” Layla asked instead.

” Come on ” Mira said with a loud groan.

” You love him. Don’t try to deny your feelings! ” She was forced to snap at Layla.

” I don’t really think you’re emotionally matured. I really think it’s the same for Shane too, cause really you two are supposed to know it’s not right and we only met some months ago. Can feelings be caught so easily? He’s probably mistaken or confused or something ” Layla replied, tho deep down she was also confused. The Truth is, she’s worried and scared.

She’s also trying to protect her dignity. Flocking with someone else’s husband isn’t a good thing for a responsible lady like her. And she also doesn’t think they are in anyway compatible at all. They’re two different souls.

” Mirah listen.. I care so much about human feelings. I mean, how the hell do you expect Brielle to feel once she’s back and aware that her husband had fallen for another lady in her absence?.. ”

” Then she’s gon’ realize it’s all her fault!! She caused it. She had walked away astray leaving her fiance alone, not even worried or caring that they ought to get married. It’s an hint that she doesn’t care at all. And seriously, I don’t think she should care once she finds out her husband belongs to someone else ” Mirah cuts in. Layla let out a sigh, she felt her best friend wasn’t really getting her point.

She knows she’s right but they aren’t listening to her or they don’t want to. But it doesn’t matter, she’s gon’ stand her ground. Shane’s married and it’s always gon’ be that way. She shouldn’t be a hindrance in his love life.

He’s simply just not emotionally matured and he’s only acting based on what he feels. He really should have thought about other people’s feelings before coming into a conclusion. By other people – She meant Brielle and her relatives.

She really can’t agree to this. She can’t!
