A Billionaire’s Ruse

I turned feigning surprise but keeping my composure as much as possible.

“good morning, Mr. Thornton” I said to him

“Good morning. Please may I know your name?” he asked me.

“My name is Alex Pierce” I replied sharply hoping my voice did not betray me.

While I was in high school, my friends always told me that I would have a good career as an actor because of my ability to adapt quickly under any situation.

“Nice to meet you, Mr. Alex. What can I do for you” he asked me

“I need a few minutes of your time because I have something that can help your company” I said.

“OK, come with me,” he said, leading the way, obviously heading to his office. We got to his office, which was truly spacious and beautiful. I envied him and felt truly jealous that one man has all these luxuries.

I was determined to get my share in this wealth by all means humanly possible.

“What brings you to my office?” he asked calmly.

“I am a billionaire and a businessman. I have noticed that your company has been in search of worthy investors’ ‘ I said, pausing to allow him to say something so that I can know if he is buying into my speech.

“OK, well we have been in search of good investors to help us sort out some problems we have been having lately” he said

“This is why I am here. I want to make you a good offer that you will appreciate greatly” I said to him reciting what I have been practicing for the past two days.

“Tell me about this offer,” he said to me.

I smiled inwardly. He is truly buying into my plan and I love it.

“I will use a unique method to help you fund your company’s account using my company’s name such that it will reflect that my company is behind the transaction but your company stands to gain from it” I said

“I do not fully understand” he said to me

“can you please make me understand better” he further said

“well, in simple terms, your company account will be funded at the expense of my company” I said

“How much are we talking about here?” he asked me. I smiled deeply. I have gotten him where I wanted.

“$1 million” I replied looking him into his eyes.

“that is huge” he said to me finding it difficult to understand why I will be offering him such a large sum

“what will I give you in exchange of this favor?” he asked me

“45% share of your company and your daughter’s hand in marriage” I said.

“that is outrageous” he said

“That’s too much from the CEO of a failing Company, and as you can see I am just here to help.”

“I do not trust this offer” he said to me looking unsure if he should take this offer.

“You can trust Pierce Enterprise can’t you?” I said as I stretched my card to him

“Oh, you are the same Alex… Alexi… Alexio Pierce” he said buying that.

“If only I could really be my brother, that will be nice, I will gain more than all these.” I thought.

“I have a good track record and having 45% share does not make me have supremacy of your company and you aren’t loosing it as your daughter will be my wife” I said trying to give him a logical reason to believe me

“Also how loving will it be if I have your daughter beside me as a bride” giving him the eye (remember I am Alexio Pierce)

“Please give me some time to think about this,” he said to me.

Obviously, this is what he has been telling other people but will never get back to them. I cannot afford this after all the effort I put into this to make it work.

“I do not think that you have all the time in the world to do that” I responded to him trying to play a smart game on him

“why do you say so” he asked truly looking confused

“this offer will not be available in the next two weeks because my company is trying to fix a few structure for more income real quick to help us win the contract we are bidding for” I said to him

“what do we need to make this work” he asked me obviously buying into my dubious plan

“I will need just a few documents from you to get the transaction done. At most, it will take 48 hours to process everything and you will get the money” I said to him.

Hell looked truly amazed by my promise. Obviously, he does not believe that this problem will be over in 48 hours. That was part of the plan to blind his sense of reasoning through greed and it was truly working.

“OK, drop your email address and I will send you an email so that we can progress,” he said to me, beaming with a smile.

“OK, I look forward to a more profitable business opportunity with you,” I said to him, smiling from ear to ear.

We shook hands and I made to leave his office when he spoke up stopping me on my track

“I hope I will not regret this decision,” he said, looking worried and unsure. I smiled inwardly because if only he knew what was coming for him, he would first do away with the devil in his office before calling the security on me.

“You can count on me because I also stand to gain if this company bounces back on its feet, ” I reassured him.

Robert Thornton POV

I smiled deeply after this stranger left my office. This is the first time I am smiling sincerely in the past two years. And I can’t really tell how happy i feel.
