Chapter 247
Before, Jason only thought that Isaac’s personality was a bit like his, but now Jason felt like even Isaac’s features resembled his own. Although, overall, Isaac still looked like
Estrella.
After wrapping up a conversation with Jason, Estrella turned her attention to Isaac, who needed some comforting. “Sweetie, Mommy already had a word with Uncle Jason. He won’t do that again. I’m all yours, and no one is going to take me away.” This is from NôvelDrama.Org.
Isaac’s mood seemed to brighten at her words, and he stuttered out, “I don’t need Daddy anymore.” If Daddy was here to compete for Mommy’s affection, then as far as he was concerned, he could do without a daddy from now on.
At Estrella’s side, Jason’s expression darkened, Pinching Isaac’s chin gently, he asked, “If I can’t be your daddy, then what should I be?”
Since Jason kissed Estrella last night, Isaac had stopped calling him ‘Daddy’. Now Isaac did not seem to be interested in the presence of Jason at all.
Upon hearing Jason’s question, Isaac turned his head and stared at Estrella with expressive eyes and lively expressions.
Jason turned to Estrella and said, “Translate for me.”
Estrella held Isaac close and said nonchalantly, “My son says that the whole being-your-dad ship has sailed. But he’s open to the idea of brotherhood.”
As soon as the words left Estrella’s lips, Jason reached out and held her chin, “Estrella, do you really get a kick out of these little victories?”
The moment Jason’s fingers grazed her skin, Isaac’s eyes widened in alarm, and he instinctively pushed Jason away. Frustrated yet amused by Isaac’s protective stance, Jason withdrew his hand and exclaimed, “Damn it, can’t I even touch my own wife?”
Isaac wrapped his tiny arms around Estrella’s neck, puffing up like a little peacock to declare his territory, signaling that his mother belonged to him.
Jason scooped Isaac into his arms, “Quit clinging to your mom. Let her freshen up. She’s got work, and we need to get you two home.”
Once he had Isaac in his arms, the little boy didn’t resist. He just pinched Jason’s mouth shut to prevent any further kisses.
Holding Isaac with one arm, Jason looked at Estrella and said, “I’ll keep an eye on Isaac. You go get ready.”
Since Jason was quite skilled with kids, Estrella went about my morning routine.
What she didn’t know was that three years earlier, when Marie had been so certain about

her pregnancy, Jason had studied up on all kinds of childcare material. Now, his preparations were paying off.
In no time, when Estrella came out of the bathroom, she saw Jason patiently feeding Isaac breakfast. Not only did he put on a bib for Isaac, but he also held a wet tissue in his right hand, ready to wipe Isaac’s mouth at any moment.
Leaning against the doorway, Estrella watched them. Jason’s knack for parenting surprised her, especially since he was so caring toward Isaac, even knowing Isaac wasn’t
his.
Isaac was a perceptive child. He could tell who genuinely cared for him, and he reciprocated that affection. If it wasn’t real, he wouldn’t let you near him, let alone feed him. So far, aside from Bryce and Jesse, Jason was the only other person Isaac was willing to warm up to.
Despite the previous night’s argument, Isaac seemed willing to forgive Jason.
“Mama.” It was only when Isaac called out to Estrella that Jason realized she was there. He turned and said, “The housekeeper brought breakfast. There’s your favorite soup. We’ll head home after you eat.”
Jason served the hot soup into a bowl before continuing to feed Isaac.
Estrella took her time walking over to the dining table. Sitting down, she addressed Jason, “Jason, Isaac isn’t your son. Don’t hold on to false hopes, or you’ll end up disappointed.”
Jason chuckled, “Estrella, you think I’m looking after him because I suspect he’s my son?” He added, “It doesn’t matter whose child he is. He’s yours, and that’s all that matters.”
After finishing his words, Jason went back to feeding Isaac soup, which Isaac enjoyed, even giving Jason a thumbs up in approval as Jason wiped his mouth.
When breakfast was over and Jason was changing, Estrella told him, “I can take Isaac back myself.”
“I’m heading to the office anyway. It’s on the way,” he replied.
Soon they were all in the car, where Estrella noticed Jason had installed a child safety seat in the back, and there were toys scattered around. Jason’s attention to detail didn’t go unnoticed by Estrella.
Isaac played contentedly, having forgotten the earlier squabbles with Jason, although Isaac no longer called him ‘Daddy’.
When playtime exhausted him, Isaac fell asleep clutching a toy. Estrella draped a light blanket over him, and Jason glanced at them through the rearview mirror. “Isaac seems a bit shy. He doesn’t talk much except to people he likes.”
Yesterday, while playing in the hospital room, he wouldn’t give anyone but Jason the time of day, ignoring doctors and nurses, sticking close to Jason’s side.

Estrella explained, “He had a rough time in my womb and wasn’t easy to care for after he was born. He spent a long time in an incubator only improving in the last few months. He’s still
bit introverted, so I’ve discussed with my mom about sending him to early education to socialize with kids his age.”
Jason’s heart clenched hearing about Isaac’s tough start. Gripping the steering wheel tightly, he said, “You kept things pretty tight-lipped.”
When Estrella left, Jason had tried to find her numerous times, but she refused to see him, and he couldn’t even dig up any information about her life until recently, after much effort. Jason let the silence linger for a moment before pressing on. “What about Isaac’s grandparents? You haven’t filled them in either, have you?”
