Suddenly There Are Three (Bailey and Artemis)

Chapter 1019

Chapter 1019 You Can Trick Him

Shell-shocked, Simon immediately sprang up from the couch. “He... He had already planned to trap me from the start. Does... Does he still

have a shred of humanity left in him? Save me, Dad! Please save me! I can't control a big family like ours.”

We're the most prominent family, and there's a tangled web of complex and tricky relationships among our family members. Withstanding the

pressure of managing Luther Group, a multinational company, is already too much for me, let alone all the numerous family members. That's

especially true considering how much the family business had flourished under Artemis' leadership, growing even bigger and better than

before with a more extensive industrial chain. How can a greenhorn like me helm such a massive company?

Gerald shrugged nonchalantly and said lightly, “I've already handed over the responsibility of leading the family to you and your brother.

Either he tricks you, or you trick him. It's clear you're out of your depth. You're no match for him, and he has outplayed you. You might as

well take on the duty of head of the household. It's okay if you can't manage it well now. When you gradually get used to it, you'll be fine.

You're still young, so there's no need to rush. Take your time.”

Simon was speechless, on the verge of becoming apoplectic with anger. What kind of lousy older brother is he that he can set up his younger

brother without even batting an eye? I can't believe I was even secretly grateful to him for quite a while. It never occurred to me that he would

be so utterly ruthless. I'm his brother. His biological brother. How could he do this to me?

“No way. I'm not cleaning up this mess. After all the trouble I went through to win my wife over, I plan to travel the world with her and the

kids and live happily ever after. How desperate would I be to take this hot potato from him?” With that, he dashed out of the study.

Staring at the open door, Gerald was so exasperated that he burst into laughter. The descendants of other prestigious families fight tooth and

nail to become the heads of their families. My two sons, however, view this immense power as nothing more than a troublesome burden and

wish to distance themselves as far as possible from it.

“You little brats. When you lose all power and influence and find yourself caught in a difficult situation, you'll realize just how crucial it is to

be in a position of great power.”

After leaving the Luther residence, Artemis instructed Ken, “Prepare the car. We're going to the Revelle residence.”

Ken rubbed his nose and smiled awkwardly. “Mr. Luther, Mrs. Luther left the Revelle residence half an hour ago.”

Artemis stopped in his tracks, narrowing his eyes as he gazed at the landscaped garden ahead. After a brief silence, he said calmly, “It's been a

few months since I last visited Granddad and Uncle Yoel. Get the car. We're going to the Chivers residence.”

Ken was silent. If she hadn't gone there, you probably wouldn't even remember that you hadn't visited Old Mr. Chivers for a few years, let

alone a few months.

The slight delay as they were talking allowed Simon to catch up to them.

“Artemis, let's clear things up before you leave. We had an agreement, remember? I only borrowed your position as the head of the family to

woo my wife and promised to return it to you after that. You agreed to it, so you can't renege on your word now.” This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.

“Do you think the transition of power is like playing house? Since you've taken over the family head seal from me, you're the new head of the

family,” Artemis responded with a chuckle.

Simon was dumbfounded. After a long while, he glared at Artemis and said, “You tricked me. This is unacceptable.”

Artemis stared at him for a moment, then chuckled again. “You say I tricked you. Well, you're also free to do the same to others. Didn't

Caridee take a liking to a capable man? He's even the vice-leader of the Saviors. Should our future brother-in-law come to you and ask for

your sister's hand in marriage, what's stopping you from taking advantage of the situation and tricking him? What could he possibly say? In

the end, he'll still be at your mercy.

Simon was so taken aback that his eyes were nearly popping out of his head. “Is... Is that even possible?”

Come to think of it, it does seem as though it'd work. Convincing Artemis to take back the family head seal is practically impossible, but

tricking my future brother-in-law shouldn't be too difficult. After all, that guy wants to marry my sister. If he dares to refuse the family head

seal, I won't let him marry Caridee.

Now that he had a plan, he no longer tried to stop his older brother. Not only that, he even clasped his hands to his chest in a respectful gesture

and said, “Thank you for your guidance, Artemis.”

Over in the Xuereb residence's living room, Olivia carefully observed Scarlett sitting on the sofa as she cautiously asked, “Lettie, it's your and

Justin's wedding the day after tomorrow. Your parents and other family members will be coming, right?”

If Sloan and Tamara attend the wedding, their presence would be enough to reinforce the Xuereb family's prestige.

Scarlett gently caressed her belly as her red lips curved into a slight smile. She drawled haughtily, “My father has gone abroad for an

investigation and can't make it back, but my mom and older brother will be coming.”

Sloan was always extremely busy, so it was hardly surprising that he would not be able to come. Hence, Olivia was not too disappointed. As

long as Mrs. Fletcher and Raiden are there, that's enough.

“That's great. I'm glad to hear that. I'll have someone make arrangements for their accommodation, so...”

“That won't be necessary,” Scarlett interrupted rudely, showing Olivia no respect. “Considering their high status, naturally, they'll stay at the

official residence when they come to Hallsbay. The Xuerebs can't offer a place more luxurious than the official residence to accommodate my

mother and elder brother, so you might as well stop fussing about it and save yourself the embarrassment. I wouldn't have agreed to marry into

the Xuereb family if not for Justin's sake. You should consider it a blessing to have me as your daughter-in-law.”

Olivia managed to put on a cheerful smile despite seething with rage. What dignity do I have left as her mother-in-law? She has trampled it

beneath her feet and utterly humiliated me. This little b*tch had better pray she can help the Campbell family overcome their difficulties.

Otherwise, I'll teach her a lesson.

“Oh, absolutely. It's a blessing for us to have you as a daughter-in-law. From now on, you call the shots in the Xuereb family. Feel free to

speak up if there's anything you want.”

Scarlett fiddled with her fingernails, then said bluntly, “I want Justin to come back and keep me company. I'm moving to the official residence

tomorrow, and he must personally escort me there. If you have nothing better to do, you should find a way to get him to come back.”

Olivia did not say anything. She can't keep her man in check due to her own incompetence, yet she threatens me every time. How infuriating!

“Sure. I'll call Justin right away.” After saying that, she stood up abruptly and headed outside with long strides.

It filled Scarlett with great delight to watch Olivia tremble with anger. So what if she's my mother-in-law? She still gets stepped all over by me

all the same. As long as we Fletchers stand firm, I can flaunt my power over the Xuerebs, and that old thing won't even dare to do anything.

Meanwhile, Artemis had rushed to the Chivers residence. Upon learning that Bailey was having tea with Edmund in the gazebo, he quickly

made his way toward the garden.

However, no sooner had he exited the main house than a man sent by Glen stopped him. Left with no other choice, he had to swallow his

jealousy and go to meet Glen.

When the older man saw him and noticed the tension on his handsome face, he could not help but chuckle and jokingly scold, “You're the

older cousin while he's the younger one. Can't you cut him some slack?”

Artemis furrowed his brows, unwavering. He said in a cold, detached tone, “I can let him have anything, including the power Granddad has

given me. However, I can't let him have my woman. She's my wife. Even if he's my cousin, I won't give him any opportunities to do so.”

“He has a crippled leg now,” Glen said, sighing silently.

Nonetheless, Artemis stood his ground. “I can break my own leg as compensation.”

Glen immediately flew into a rage. He jabbed a finger at Artemis and snarled, “You brat! Why would he want your leg?”
