Dear Ex-wife Marry Me

Chapter 1943

The car finally came to a stop at the prime viewing spot, already swarming with people below. It was clear that this spot had to be reserved in advance, and their decision to watch the fireworks had been spur- of-the-moment. It seemed like Fitch had bought out the whole area, as there wasn't a soul around except for their quietly parked car.

He opened the car door just as the countdown outside began. Zoey was still nestled in his embrace, just a turn of her head away from the view outside. The cold night air seeped in, diluting the warmth inside the car. His hand gently rested on her back, patting lightly as if soothing a child.

The embarrassment that had just subsided came rushing back. She was about to sit up when he pressed her back down. "Just sit on my lap."

Zoey's cheeks flushed again as she started to squirm, "No need."

"Want to try again? You should have..."

Before he could finish, Zoey's hand covered his mouth. In the dim light, he saw her face flush with annoyance.

"Shut up, stop talking!"

A smirk played in his eyes as he licked her palm lightly. Zoey's eyes widened, wishing she could just throw her hand away.

"Fitch, you... you..."

You're being unreasonable, shameless.

She hid her hands behind her back, her heart racing. That strange sensation surged again. Fitch was truly flirting with her. Initially, it was subtle, but now he was pulling out all the stops. In the Greenfield social scene, he was incredibly popular. If he decided to use all his charms on a woman, none could escape.

Zoey felt a burning in her palm, as if something had burrowed into her skin. She had been looking forward to the fireworks, but as they started, her mind was a blur.

The car was silent, and she

remained seated on his lap, leaning

back. As he tilted his head back,

Zoey could see his Adam's apple clearly. Her gaze felt scorched, and she hastily focused on the fireworks. But he caught her hand, placing it on his throat. With every swallow, she could feel the movement of his Adam's apple.

Zoey had never experienced anything like it, feeling a heat that seemed to spread throughout her body. When the fireworks ended, she had no idea; her thoughts were all over the place.

He held her waist, asking, "Did you enjoy it?"

It wasn't clear if he was asking about the fireworks or something else. Zoey didn't answer, and Fitch intertwined his fingers with hers. "Why so quiet?"This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

Was it too much tonight? Did he scare her? But she clearly couldn't resist. He had known her body well, inside and out. Since four years ago.

"Fitch."

Zoey's voice suddenly became serious, looking straight into his eyes. "Are you afraid?"

It was a hunch, but what could someone like Fitch possibly fear?

His strategies tonight were relentless, and she found them hard to fend off, her heart wavering. But she still wanted to ask, was he afraid?

Fitch's pupils dilated, his lips

tightening. He knew Zoey wasn't foolish. She had chosen to tolerate before, but now she saw through him easily, as if his deceit was transparent. Yes, he was afraid. The more she wanted freedom, the more he felt everything slipping from his grasp.

The fear from four years ago spread again. He wanted to keep her, by any means necessary. Dishonorable or desperate, he wished for her to love Fitch once more.
